Social myths about human nature
- Hold the individual back.
- Prevent success.
- Cause poor behavior and world problems.
Are you a good person?
The way people treat you is based on whether they think you are a good person or not. In most cases, more people than you realize do not think you are a good person.
What is driving people apart in our societies is the prevailing assumption that human nature is not generally good. If a person mistakenly thinks you are evil, they treat you badly and that treatment tends to elicit a response from you that they will think confirms their belief.
Because of the self-fulfilling nature of beliefs, the world’s prevailing beliefs are causing virtually all of the social problems in our world. Those social problems then lead to most other problems.
Crime, distrust and unscrupulous behavior are a product of false science and the myth that human nature is untrustworthy.
If your behavior has been affected it does not mean that you are not a good person, it means that you have made mistakes or are involved in a learning experience. Even if you have done something you believe is evil, it does not mean you are evil, it only means that you have done something that you now regret.
When people you love are mean to you it may cause you to feel unjustified guilt, and the feeling of guilt is a powerful emotion. Guilt is artificial when it is felt for unjustified reasons. Artificial guilt can have an immediate effect on you and your life.
When it is a runaway, unchecked emotion, guilt will destroy everything in your life. It’s how we feel when the bully makes a laughing stock of us in public or an authority cuts us down. We react with artificial guilt and this is a powerful form of self-destruction.
There are big problems in our civilization right now. Most of them stem from inaccuracies in science that are leading to the kind of problem I just mentioned.
Einstein on the importance of our beliefs
“The most important decision we make is whether we believe we live in a friendly or hostile universe.”
“The most important question a person can ask is, ‘Is the Universe a friendly place?'”
— Albert Einstein
Behavior is a product of belief. Our belief systems generate corresponding behavior in the same way a hard drive or operating system in a computer dictates how the computer will function and what it can or cannot do.
“Political, scientific, religious, educational, medical and economic forces in our society are telling you that there is something wrong with you. I am here to tell you that there is nothing wrong with you — that’s contemporary superstition being projected.”
— William Eastwood
Internal Science & International Philosophy
International philosophy is based on the idea that we are fundamentally good rather than naturally inclined to do wrong, with the knowledge that what we believe is physically manifest. Flawed beliefs generate flawed behavior in the same way a faulty operating program in a good computer will cause it to run improperly.
Human nature is good, not evil
“Did you know that your inner nature is good.
Current beliefs are based on the idea that human nature is not very good. Negative beliefs about human nature are the most unfortunate kind of self-fulfilling prophecies for individuals and society. These kinds of beliefs can prevent your success and good things from entering your life. They tend to ruin relationships and attract negative experiences.
“These kinds of core beliefs lead to distrust of people and also to behavior that is not worthy of trust. When people are not trusted, society unravels. This is what is happening in our civilization. This is so because thoughts do create matter and reality.” —William Eastwood.
What Is Altruism? How Can I Be an Altruistic Person & Autonomous Individual? Am I Good or Bad?
- What is altruism?
- How can I be an altruistic person?
- What is an autonomous person?
- How can I be an autonomous person?
- Am I good or bad?
I will answer these questions now.
What is altruism?
Altruism is the desire to do good for the sake of doing so. You are a good person because all consciousness is inherently good, and you are individualized consciousness.
Specific beliefs, however, can override your natural desire to be altruistic, but the underlying nature of your consciousness will always be altruistic.
If evil seems to exist, it is because our beliefs manifest. It is not an intrinsic truth, it is a created truth, and there is a big difference between the two.
